The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.4 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located in ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Traumatic Brain Injury, General Rehab, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Neuro Rehab Units. The Center’s 75-bed inpatient unit is one of 18 Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs in NC that is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at ECU Health. ECU Health Medical Center is a JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center.
PM&R faculty recognized in Teachers Of Quality Academy ceremony
In an event on November 8, Dr. Clint Faulk was recognized as a scholar for his quality improvement project titled “Decreasing unnecessary wound healing visits to ECU Health Emergency Department through transition of care to the Wound Healing Center.” His project was in collaboration with Keli Hurley, RN, the manager of the Wound/Hyperbaric Center.
Dr. Faulk’s future goals of this project are to “expand on what I have learned and share it with my residency department colleagues and resident physicians as it relates to residency training.”
